The Humber Food Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) is a responsive partnership brought together to provide first/frontline management with focused techniques, information and education customised to business needs.

Innovative Training Approach Designed For The Food Manufacturing Sector

A variety of methods have been adopted through a combination of training in factories, through a “digital factory” using internationally adopted IT tools (Produce Plus and PHAROS) and dedicated delivery within the workplace supported by CoVe’s own specialised facilities.

Enormous Opportunities for Improvements

The UNIDO software tools give a standardised approach to getting the most from capital in plant and machinery, giving visibility to performance and in doing so revealing potential opportunities for improvement,

Using Produce Plus, management are analysing the current company situation and the beneficial impact of changes and CoVE assist in realising the required improvements.

Benefits for Everyone

The CoVE partners believe that by educating and developing workers and management the following can be achieved:

  • Improved Skills
  • Improved Earning Potential
  • Improved Qualifications
  • Improved Productivity
  • Improved Profit
  • Improved Staff Retention

A Partnership Providing Expertise and Experience

The tree partners within the Humber Food CoVE are Grimsby College, North Lindsey College and Hull College, with each partner delivering one of the three development programmes to recognised national standards.

  • Grimsby College                       Food and Drink Manufacturing Operations
  • North Lindsey College               Business Improvement Techniques
  • Hull College                              Engineering Systems Maintenance

The partnership is co-ordinated by Grimsby College. The partners are currently supporting 25 company improvement projects using selected training methods from approved courses. The UNIDO software, PHAROS and Produce Plus, will validate the benefits and track improvement within these projects.
