the latest newsTraining of trainer’s workshop on Pharos and MCCT in UN Center, Nairobi, Kenya

The workshop was prepared within the UNIDO Project of Application of quality principles to the food processing sector of 7 Sub-Sahara African countries. The training of trainers took place between 5 – 7 June 2000 at United Nations Office at Nairobi UN Complex, Gigiri, Nairobi.

The workshop was opened by Mr. Mariki, UNIDO, Nairobi and introduction report by Mr. G. Patacconi, Team leader of the Project and TQM specialist, UNIDO, Vienna.

Its working agenda included as follows:

1. Introduction to the UNIDO business performance software tools: Best, Fit, Pharos and MCCT.

2. Basic concepts of strategic enterprise management, which were implemented in the software based on continuous improvement methodology.

3. In depth coverage of the PHAROS and MCCT software packages, including main concepts, features, functionality and objectives.

4. Defining the stages and content of the preparatory work at the enterprises for collecting data for the software, analysis of enterprise information, review of documentation and training materials, necessary assistance and instructions in defining data, its potential sources, preparation of database,

5. Practical application session, manager interpretation of results, analysis of indicators, defining decision options and conclusions.

6. How to use MCCT software, its objectives and features.

7. MCCT data preparation and entry, practical application on sample database

8. Overview of training procedures while in installations on enterprise sites

9. Overview of product marketing options and training procedures for end users in Food Industry.

10. Discussion, questions and answers

One sample case study based on food production factory had been developed for each of the software packages and provided as the detailed example for study and data entry.

Application options had been analyzed and all related questions answered.
