| COMFAR - the Computer Model for
Feasibility Analysis and Reporting |
|
In 1983 the first generation of the Computer
Model for Feasibility Analysis
and Reporting (COMFAR), a computation tool for
financial analysis of investments, was released. Since then, this UNIDO
software has been developed further, to support the financial and
economic appraisal of projects. In 1995 the third generation, COMFAR III
Expert, was introduced to the market.
Today, over 1500 licensees are using COMFAR in about 130 countries
for project analysis and appraisal.

COMFAR III Expert is a computer software that
permits the user to simulate the short- and long-term financial and
economic situation of investment projects. The software permits the
analysis of industrial as well as non-industrial projects, whether new
investments, rehabilitations, expansions, joint venture or privatization
projects.
COMFAR III Expert is operable under Windows 3.11, Windows
95/98 and Windows NT. For details, please refer to the Hard- and
Software Requirements.
COMFAR III Expert is currently available in English, French,
German, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Slovak and Spanish. Other language
versions will follow, subject of demand.

| Easy access - easy to operate |

COMFAR III Expert is ideal even for those with
no special computer knowledge. A graphical user interface with a
standardized system of symbols and terminology makes it especially
user-friendly.
After having specified the project type (industrial, agroindustrial,
mining, infrastructure or tourism) and the level of analysis
(opportunity or feasibility study level) the user is guided through data
entry, data saving, calculations, display and printing of results,
schedules and graphical charts.

COMFAR III Expert allows users greater
flexibility in specifying how detailed an analysis they require. The
standardized basic structure can be expanded to fit the special needs of
the analyst.

| Financial and economic analysis |
|
|
|
|
Based on the corresponding input data, COMFAR III
Expert produces a variety of accounting, cash flow and financial
statements, including financial and efficiency ratios, and break-even
conditions. The Economic Analysis option allows the user to intro-duce
shadow prices and to compute economic rates of return, value added,
foreign exchange effects and so on, including external economic effects. |
